Azulejo is a form of painted tin-glazed ceramic tile which became prominent in the 15th century in mostly religious buildings but now can be found everywhere including homes as they are not only decorative but as a form of temperature control as well.
This ring was purchased in Porto, Portugal on my very first trip.
